Dental implants can replace a few teeth, or a whole set. This patient had lost all but three of her upper teeth to periodontal disease, so scheduled a time to meet with Los Angeles and Beverly Hills implant dentist Dr. Alex Farnoosh to learn about permanent replacement options. In her consultation, Dr. Farnoosh found that the patient's three remaining teeth were also infected and decaying, and recommended that the patient restore the full set with dental implants. Because dental implants are structured to provide a permanent replacement for the original teeth, they have to bond to the support structures of the bone. In the initial dental implant procedure the patient will receive the implant itself, then allow a certain amount of time for the implant to join to the underlying support structures of the teeth - much in the same way as a natural tooth root. Once the jaw and gum area have healed adequately, Dr. Farnoosh will then place specially designed crowns over the implant that will mimic the color, shape, and function of your natural teeth. After her Los Angles dental implant procedure, this patient enjoys dramatically more comfortable, functional teeth. Her replacement teeth fit together appropriately and attractively, and despire her past problems with periodontal disease they function like normal teeth. In the post-operative side view you see one of her original, infected teeth which will likely need to be replaced in the future.
